20862 - The new Antigone
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Vicky Baklessi
The new Antigone continues impetuously her role, for 2500 years now, to show to all systems, to all ideologies , that the substance is value and not principles. And what matters is not to react, but to resist with all your being if it is the proper, without being afraid of the cost because that is the work of Hellenism against barbarism, so that Humanity is not brought to the knees, even after the crimes. So we see that the theatre brings us back to the glory and not to the fame, to the work not to slavery, to strategy and not to economy. Because from the beginning it was free for the humans and always worked with bonds not bondage. This is indeed the greatness of the Greek theatre. Because if you want to be humane, you write theater, while with the sociable they play theatre. Hellenism didn’t forget its heritage, the philosophers, the mathematicians, the poets, the sculptors. But what happens with the resident of Greece whom misery has taken over and he cannot see anything positive? So he must hear a foreign voice and that of the theater Juliette Binoche who plays the role of Antigone, to support him so that he increases his morale . But that doesn’t matter, love is on us too. What matters is to continue after this, because we mustn’t stop, the future awaits us.
