23219 - Greece, Israel and Cyprus

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
The Prime Minister of Israel referred to the creation of the underwater cable which will be linking the electrification networks of the three countries.
In other words, he spoke clearly about the EuroAsia Interconnector.
He also referred to the creation of a natural gas pipeline, which will link the hydrocarbon reserves of both Cyprus and Israel, and which through Greece will be transferred to the rest of Europe.
That was regarding the EastMed pipeline, and the differentiation is obvious between the three countries, due to Greece’s delay in this sector.
And he insisted stating that, they are two practical issues which are interconnected, and regarding which we should move on .
And the Greek Prime Minister said that, the underwater cable will enable the direct conversion of exploitable reserves into electricity and it will also enable the transportation of it throughout Europe.
We see therefore, what this tripartite means in practical terms and in European terms as well.
Due to the geographical position of the three countries, and their potential in the hydrocarbons sector, a flow chart which is directed towards the European Union it’s implemented.
It is therefore essential to listen to what the other countries have to say, in order to comprehend the value of this tripartite, otherwise we are lost in theoretical and generalized statements, which only indicate the lack of information through the technocrats towards the heads of States.
The bottom line of the matter is, that we must proceed at our own pace on both technical and scientific issues, and let our politicians learn about it, whenever they may.
