23482 - Limassol is at the forefront

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
With Limassol’s decision to save the situation caused by the inaction of another town, Limassol was able to change the data at a Cypriot level, as it proposed to host the companies, Total and Eni in regards to their hydrocarbon research needs.
In this manner, Limassol gave a solution to a problem, which even though was a local one, it nevertheless had an overall effect.
Because, even though we desire to have allies, and strong ones at that at a strategic level, and we fear that they may abandon us due to difficulties, we still have people around, who due to their own local interests, cause huge side effects to the progress of the process.
However, what is important is that these companies will remain in Cyprus on account of Limassol’s initiative, and this is the substance of the matter, because misery remains miserable, regardless of even the developments in this geopolitical level.
Within the context of the Cypriot issue, and that of the tripartites between, Greece-Cyprus-Israel, and Greece-Cyprus-Egypt respectively, the presence of both Eni and Total is substantial, because it gives a practical stigma of cooperation.
Therefore, a serious initiative had to be taken, leading to a decision which will help to maintain this advantage of Cyprus.
In that manner we’ve managed to overcame an artificial obstacle which was just about to occur, for reasons that have nothing to do with Cyprus’s high strategy.
Limassol had already secured an axiom for Cyprus due to Noble, which it never obtained prior, but now it enhances that, due to the outcome with Eni and Total.
