24406 - The resistance of the sea
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
Instead of dealing with details as far as the refugee issue and terrorism is concerned, it would be wise to examine these matters in the context of high strategy.
In that manner, we would comprehend that the substance doesn’t lay within the range of the Aegean as a contact zone, and an action field, but with the EEZ, at a Mediterranean and European level.
When we examine the intentions of the terrorist organization upon a map, we can observe that the Mediterranean plays a dominant role, and for this reason we should give it more importance, in order for us as a concsequence to resist at a high level.
Because the Mediterranean management, even in regards to the hydrocarbon issue, constitutes an energean security and resistance as well, re: the Middle Eastern monopoly factor, which the Daesh terrorist organization tries to exploit to the utmost.
If the EU member States had less energean dependence, and were able to exploit indigenous energean sources, then that would immediately be a blow to terrorism, which bets upon the easily accessible oil wells.
In other words, there is a context within the Mediterranean, which provides the option for marine resistance through the concept of the EEZ, and Hellenism has a role to play there.
Consequently, if we were to escape from the misery, and got rid of the dogmatism of a void system, we would realize that the future would be completely different, even at this level.
Because the large problems can not be solved with local solutions alone, as there’s a need for wide range thinking and high strategy, even though all the necessary tools are available.
