Now that the refugees realized that they will not be able to leave Macedonia, because Skopje closed its borders, the traffickers who exploit them have began sending them back to Thrace, and more specifically right at the border, where they advise them that they must dispose of their Greek documents, and to represent themselves as new refugees with other data than prior stated, in order to reappear in a supposedly legal manner.
What the traffickers who by the way grab hold of the few belongings that they have left, don’t tell them, is that once again they will be rejected for the same reason, if they are not refugees who have a right to get political asylum due to fact that their life is endangered back in their own homeland.
Because if it’s regarding economic migrants, especially from countries other than Syria and Iraq, they will surely be deported.
In other words we are already seeing the unacceptable elements of a failed agreement, which was of course presented at the local level as a success, to not only fail to solve the actual problem, but on the contrary, to aggravate it where we didn’t really have a need for it.
Consequently, we see that the lack of strategy at the national level does not derive from willingness, but simply from the authority’s incompetence to deal with any serious problem.
The refugee issue highlights the limits of actions occurring for appearances sake, and it consummates the actuality which can’t respond to critical data.
It’s also about time that our nation would stop dealing with the refugee problem with the innocence that characterizes our people.
It is not merely regarding a humanitarian issue, where people need some local aid.
The problem is rooted within terrorism itself, which tries to impose an inhumane barbarism.
