Following the course of the Odin Finder vessel, we can in actual fact see the implementation of a factor which is a consequence of the strategic value of the tripartite between Greece, Cyprus and Israel.
As required by the PCI which was adopted by the European Commission, it executed the bathymetric study re: the EuroAsia Interconnector, concetrating specifically in the area Korakia.
Thereon it followed a course parallel to the general axis of Crete, from the top of the island towards Sitia, in order to identify the feasibility corridor which would lead to Cyprus.
The Odin Finder will soon reach the area between Crete and Cyprus, which it explored initially in its journey, from Lemesos to Piraeus, in order for the first part of its mission to take an end, so that it can continue hereon toward Israel.
In this context, the passage from Crete to Cyprus is of course of huge importance because it is the longest of the three parts which constitute the total lenght of the underwater cable.
Because many speculate regarding the interconnection of Crete, considering that the most important part is that between Crete and Attica, whereas, that is only a local project consequently gaining the sense of a national one.
If the EuroAsia Interconnector is considered a PCI by the European Commission, it is solely because it crosses borders, and this of course concerns Crete and Cyprus. This is the substance of the matter, and this is what promotes Crete internationally.
