1680 - The immigrant of memory
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Angeliki Papadopoulou
In our country many immigrants were born,
poverty was here.
They learned what toil means but their children forgot it,
oblivion was here also.
But now that our earth accepts foreigners too
the immigrant of memory came as well.
He said nothing.
There were no words.
It was only his pain that was heard
before he died.
