In this odd conversation
between the two friends of yesteryear,
an exclamation had them surprised:
and all this for humanity?
This could have sounded hollow
or at least fallacious
but it has not been the case.
A burst of laughing swept
in the telephone line
like in a Godard film.
They had to admit
that they knew each other well enough
to allow themselves this familiarity.
Not because of its cruelty
but on the contrary for its conscience
of the ampleness of the sacrifice of kindliness.
