The Eni – Total consortium after its success on marine block 6 in 2018 with the reserve Calypso, where 8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas with 99% pure methane content were found, but even after the obtainment of marine block 7, it ended up managing marine blocks 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11 within the Cypriot EEZ .
Now, after the Exxon Mobil – Qatar Petroleum consortium’s discovery of the Glaucus reserve, it will proceed with a drilling program on marine block 11.
In this manner it will also be in close proximity to the Zohr reserve discovered by Eni in 2015 within the Egyptian EEZ and even closer to the East Med pipeline path, which constitutes a European Commission project of Common Interest, just as the EuroAsia Interconector power cable.
The Eni – Total Consortium is therefore making strategic moves in order to further solidify it self within the Cypriot EEZ.
We additionally observe, that Total, which has formed a consortium with Exxon Mobil and the Hellenic Petroleum within the marine regions West of Crete and South West of Crete, opts for a similar allied context within the Cypriot EEZ.
Consequently, we are expecting new results from now on, with Zohr type reserves, ie, with karstic limestone.
