3260 - The beautiful victims
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Evi Charitidou
When everybody was pointing at us with their gaze
we had not yet known
what racism meant.
We thought we were ugly.
When they grabbed us by the hair
we had not yet known
what torture meant.
We thought we were guilty.
When they were pointing at us with their finger
we had not yet known
what death meant.
We thought we were alive.
Now we learnt that we only are
beautiful victims.
