3191 - Secular Manifestation

Translated from the French by Vicky Baklessi
The old scholar awoke in bliss, determined to take matters into his own hands. He had spent a night almost white but he was not discontented with him because his intuition had come a long way. He quickly went down to the crypt and contemplated the five effigies again. In his eyes, they were even more magnificent because his intuition could be true. He recapitulated the elements he had at his disposal: five men, five codices, one common point, the knight without armor. The titles of the codices were in Armenian, Greek, Hebrew, Russian, and Venetian. Five languages, five alphabets. A priori the only common element was their symmetrical difference. Under his eyes, he had five faces of humanity. He took a closer look at the titles of the codices. He noticed for the first time thanks to his nocturnal research on the exotic alphabets that the titles were the same. Five languages for the same thought. Two words for the same purpose: Humanitas and Tempus. Even though the title seemed strange to him at first glance, he thought it was appropriate. After all, these two words said the essential. But this did not mean that the codex was only different versions of the same text, if not the same. He thought back to redundancy. In case of conflict, this was one of the safest ways to ensure the robustness of a message. For the effigies, it was not a matter of concealing information but of safeguarding it. Did each effigy have complete information in his language? Was it enough for the Master of Time? The old scholar thought not. Because it did not use the notion of group. This would have been contrary to the mental scheme that emerged from the study of the effigies. It was necessary without doubt to have access to the five versions in order to have a global vision. Each effigy was responsible for part of the information. They were like a pentagram, a staff. To read the whole partitur and hear the music of silence, it was necessary to listen to each of the effigies. As for the knight without armor, he was the key. The scholar deduced that there were neither sharps nor flats, since the key was without armor. It was at this moment that he again heard the voices of the past. That was how he understood the figures. The strings of time began their five movements for a silence. The secular manifestation had begun. The old scholar now understood Humanity and Time. He had tears in his eyes. He communicated with the effigies. The legend was the essence of history. He would therefore be the prophet of the legend. He was searching all this time for his own person without realizing that his research and contact with the effigies had transformed him. He was no longer just the oak. He now possessed the sanguine and the azure of the code of chivalry. And he closed his eyes to listen better to the silence of long ago.
