30441 - The obscure library

N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

We all believe that the books create the libraries, and it takes many years to acquire the knowledge which could reverse that initial mistake.
Books are not made so that they may exist alone.
Their very existence is searching for the coexistence, and more precisely, the coherence with other books.
Besides, who amongst us has just a single book at his home?
Books want their covers to come into contact with those of others. But which reader pays attention to this detail?
It’s the means the books obtain in order to stand upright.
That also constitutes a form of resistance against the oblivion of barbarism.
For this reason, when the beasts are destroying them, when they throw them on the ground without mercy, each one, just like the innocent that they isolate before transforming them into victims which get burned out.
The books are our dead, or rather their spirit, which is protecting another skin for the life to follow.
But who takes care of the books?
Only those who love libraries, otherwise the others are quite capable of leaving them on the ground, just as you place a prisoner in the dungeon when he tried to resist.
Consequently, the books constitute a part of the library, and within it they live free, because it’s their soul which withstands such naked bodies, because it responds to the will of Humanity.
