23937 - The data re: the Eastern Mediterranean
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
While most are dedicated into dealing exclusively with the refugee issues, in order to sweep under the carpet other problems which concern Greece, the data of the Eastern Mediterranean continues to become enhanced by new discoveries that literally change the reality as we knew it.
Regardless of all these facts, in both Greece and Cyprus, many insist in promoting the politics of misery, without contemplating, or even worse by avoiding to take into account these valuable data for the sake of the future of Hellenism.
And while we can see clearly now what is occurring in both Syria and Iraq, the issue of the Eastern Mediterranean which is transformed into a focus of attention for the entire region, doesn’t as yet dominate the media.
There are of course references to the two tripartites, but the whole issue is presented in a purely diplomatic manner, whereas their foundations are: strategy and energy.
The Zohr hypergigantic natural gas and oil reserve of the Egyptian EEZ, is not unique, and it actually constitutes the initial example for many more cases in the region, and more so, in the Cypriot EEZ, but the Greek EEZ as well.
The target reserves already exceed the assumptions connected to the planned drillings, which practically means that the matter will act as a catalyst and will consequently affect the whole situation, in a way that we will finally move on to the next phase, especially due to, and during the, third licensing round in Cyprus.
Greece should quickly follow this example, so she would not be left behind merely following the developments.
This does not depend solely on the government sector, but on the nation itself, which learns more and more regarding what is occurring in actual fact regarding the matter.
