23692 - Cyprus’s third licensing round
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
It is necessary for Cyprus’s third licensing round not to be affected by the negotiations, and to be let proceed freely.
It’s only in this manner that it would be able to utilize the data regarding the Zohr type target reserves, in order to give a strong boost to the energean Cyprus.
We need to escape from the statements of misery regarding the uniqueness of “the” marketable reserve.
Because not only the reserves are much more, but they are also richer.
And it is exactly what attracts the big oil companies to invest strongly in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The actions of the negotiations should not technically undermine the third licensing round, due to ambiguity, because we well know the results caused by political uncertainty in Greece, during the large licensing round regarding the twenty maritime plots.
A licensing round of that range, should on the contrary indicate the path followed by our high strategy, in order to give the range of the geopolitics which are not limited to petty politics, without any depth and substance.
If we are to end up with a miserable licensing round, then it’s better for it not to take place at all, otherwise it will have negative consequences on the whole dynamics of the Cypriot EEZ, and there is no reason for us to suffer this outcome.
The third licensing round’s marine plots should cover the sections which didn’t open, even though there had been nominations re: them, but also, there should be an emphasis placed on the three Zohr type target reserves, in order to dynamically enhance the whole matter, and to have as a consequence, a positive impact on the Cypriot issue.
