21425 - Cyprus’s natural gas belongs to the Cypriots and to the Cypriots exclusively
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
Despite Turkey’s worthless despair, Cyprus’s natural gas belongs to the Cypriots and to the Cypriots exclusively, namely, the Armenians, the Greek Cypriots, the Latins, the Maronites and the Turkish Cypriots, but not to the settlers, who enjoy Turkey’s natural gas.
By the same token, it doesn’t belong to the Helladites, as they obtain Greece’s own natural gas.
Every citizen of a country is entitled to a portion of the remunerations which that country receives, and that alone.
It is simply the implementation of the Law of the Sea.
The five communities living in Cyprus have absolutely the same rights, as per the 1960 Cypriot Constitution.
Consequently, the natural gas issue and generally the issue of the Cypriot EEZ, is already solved.
In actual fact, Turkey’s argument is absurd, because the Turkish Cypriots don’t need to claim anything, since to begin with, in a double sense, they have the same rights.
Now, in regards to the existing reserves in Israel, Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, the EastMed natural gas pipeline will sufficiently cover their needs, and doesn’t need to go through anywhere else, because the main objective is Italy.
Therefore, the most natural and rational route of the pipeline is, from the reserves, to Cyprus, then to Greece and finally to Italy.
That is exactly the route, as it’s discribed by the European Commission, since October 2014.
The official map refers to the Projects of Common Interest of the European Union.
So we have to realize that things are crystal clear, and that the propaganda when it obtains no data, it’s doomed to collapse when the reality happens.
