Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
With the Zohr reserve, because of its size and due to its proximity to the Cypriot EEZ, many factors are now forced to appear, giving the impresion that they are actually doing something.
So with all the statements we heard about ENI and then regarding Total, we see that there is a phase change which gains large dimensions at least for those who want to reduce the role of the Cypriot EEZ and the role of its reserves, with the exception of the reserve Aphrodite.
Though in substance, for those who are aware about energean strategy, nothing changes.
Simply, some were forced to change their placement in order to be compatible with the truth of the matter.
ENI and Total remain in the Cypriot EEZ, as much as some wanted to disprove the fact, in order to downplay the whole research taking place on the marine plots.
ENI and Total co operate for decades on, in regards to the recordings and the drilling results, because that is advantageous to both, especially when they are situated in close proximity fields.
In addition, with the hypergiant reserve, there is even the case for it to play a role in the Cypriot EEZ due to proximity.
And because ENI is situated in Egyptian marine plot 9, and Total in the Cypriot maritime plot 11 which meet at a point of contact, a closer relationship regarding this issue can be expected. It is therefore important to see how the Cypriot authorities will utilize this fact.
We are already seeing that there is a change of mode, in order for them to adapt to the new circumstances.
And while they were trying to give emphasis to other discussions, the Cypriot EEZ comes again at the center of attention, even though that was not to the liking of some serviles.
