20702 - Lignite is not a prospect
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
Lignite is not a prospect with the problems it produces.
It doesn’t by no means respect the environment and or the people.
It belongs to the past of Greece, when there were not a lot of potentials available, and when it did not know about the EEZ and the natural gas which belongs to the green energy.
We can’t therefore, at the time that we’ve already replaced the supply of two units of Hellenic Public Power Corporation (HPPC), in Megaloupoli and moved from lignite to natural gas, to continue to talk about the development of the lignite, as if that constitutes an innovation.
Innovation must be applicable to the renewable energy sources also, and not only in regards to natural gas.
So we must get serious at an energean level, because all world experts are aware of the subject.
The lignite has no future as an energy product, let us continue with our units therefore, where it is absolutely necessary, because there is no alternative, but let’s clarify to all that it’s not regarding growth, nor recovery, but merely a local conservatism.
The value of our technique degrades when we hear statements that encourage growth through lignite.
Now we are finally through to another phase.
