Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
It appears from unofficial sources that presently we have a triple consortium interested for the marine plots of the Greek EEZ.
This consortium consists of, Total, Edison and Greek Petroleum.
So we have one French, one Italian and one Greek company.
The three of them together are interested in the marine plot 2, which is situated off the coast of Corfu.
This plot 2, touches on the midline between Greece and Italy, with which we have signed the continental shelf agreement since 1977, and additionally, an agreement in 2013, in regards to the beginning of the consultations re: the demarcations of our EEZ .
In marine plot 2, the reserve Pyrros is also located, which has a size of about 90 km2 and is situated right on the delination line between Italy and Greece.
In the particular marine plot, a part of the reserve Achilles is also situated, which has a size of 450km2, with its other part located in marine plot 4.
The Achilles reserve is exclusively Greek, while the reserve Pyrros is both Greek and Italian.
This triple consortium led by Total will give a dynamic example to other companies for the second licensing round, in order for them to come and invest in Greece through the Greek EEZ.
In actual fact, we need to have national endurance in order to move on to the next stage, where we will have earnings from our own hydrocarbons in the Ionian Sea, a factor which is enhanced by the applications of Greek Petroleum in plots 1 and 10.
