As an initial idea in the negotiations context, the concept of the referendum would’ve been meaningful only if it was applying a theoretical pressure as a countermeasure.
Later on, the referendum, by the not reaching an agreement prior, was left in the air, as its very text was out of place, due to the withdrawal of the IMF and the alteration of the data.
Some even raise the issue of legality, both with the complain at the Council of Europe and the undertaking of legal action in the State Council.
In any case, it was decided by the Greek Parliament, although based on a database that has changed.
If we were to forget its cost itself, we should observe that the problem arising, is no longer its vague text, that had some meaning initially, but its actual interpretation.
Here comes the isomorphic context into the picture. Because the fiscal also is not a serious difficulty, since we saw that the negotiations had been very close to a balanced amount.
But we want a debt restructuring, which did not occur while we were in the previous negotiations.
Additionally, we all want to remain in the European Union and the Eurozone.
Consequently, it is not the referendum in itself which is of importance, but the message we send with it.
With this in mind we need to get coordinated and focused.
Because the bottom line is, in what manner we will continue the necessary negotiations after the referendum, because Greece will always be here, whoever is he who’ll be next.
The message of the referendum should therefore be clear to the rest of the Europeans, and not only between us.
