17980 - Regarding heroism
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
When servility is socially active, we assume that heroism does not exist.
And consequently, in order to fill the gap, we label hero, every Tom, Dick and Harry, or any piano hammers that contitute the heroes of everydayness.
So we live in a pretense, that impregnates us due to incompetence.
In this fashion, we are forced to tolerate any act of barbarism as a soul expression.
And finally, we are wondering whether we belong to the continuity of the past, as we have no future.
In actual fact, we must realize that heroism belongs to the core of Hellenism as a foundation and there no Hellenism without heroism.
This fundamental element explains our motto: Freedom or Death.
Since we do not wish servitude upon our people, heroism is needed in order to fight against the barbarism that violates the innocent.
So even though the Greeks fight like heroes, foreigners are obliged to consider that it is heroes who are fighting like the Greeks.
In actual fact, we can not remove the notion of heroism from Hellenism, without degenerating it.
Consequently, those who accept the abusing of heroism, in practical terms, they allow the insulting of Hellenism.
And that means they are committing a crime against memory, which, like Hellenism, its a gift of Time to humanity, so to permit it to occur, makes you an accomplice to barbarism.
