17562 - The time of the Greek EEZ has arrived

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
All events taking place due to the EEZ of Cyprus, are creating a very good and dynamic timing. All the reactions and attitudes of foreign countries, such as the European Union, the USA, Russia, France, Germany and Israel during Turkey’s actions, indicate, tangibly and practically, the power of the Law of the Sea.
So, when a country decides to declare its EEZ and to opt for the demarcation of its boundaries through the mid line line, allies could then be found, who, due to state interests and or, those of their companies, will support its positions at a geo-economic level, followed thereon by the geopolitical dimension.
The EEZ operates in such cases as a catalytic element, since it allows other countries, and especially European ones, to sustain a stable position due to foundationalism. The tripartite contact which took place in Cairo, enhances substantially the whole context and furthermore sets an example for another tripartite contact due to take place in Tel Aviv. The chessboard has changed in the Eastern Mediterranean and everybody can observe, that it is no longer a matter of a zero-sum game, where one can achieve a Pareto equilibrium rather than a Nash equilibrium.
Therefore, the Member States of the European Union have every interest for the mining to take place in the EEZ of Member States of the European Union, in order for the EU to totally avoid the energy dependence on foreign agents.
The US and Russia want to play in the region with the oil companies also, such as Noble, the Gazprombank and Novatec, as they already manage plot 12, and are candidates in plots 5, 6, 7 and 8. France, through Total, manages plots 10 and 11 and is a candidate in 7 out of the 9 plots which were open to applications.
Germany is in need of green energy, in order to entirely put an end to its nuclear program and the most powerful solution to it of course, is natural gas.
And that, of the Eastern Mediterranean constitutes the future. Regarding Italy, through its ENI, is in plots 2,3 and 9. Therefore, if we consider all these facts with the interest regarding the twenty marine plots of the Greek EEZ, we can comprehend that it’s time for implementations on a practical level, through the calculations of the Voronoi diagrams, the determination of the mid-line between Egypt and Cyprus, but of course with Italy as well, because now, all the players in the region are following a mix strategic, because their institutional strategies converge towards the same aim, namely, the strategic utilisation of hydrocarbons in the Eastern Mediterranean, with the Greek and the Cypriot EEZ by European standards.
