A six month deadline was given by UNESCO to England, in order to negotiate with Greece, regarding the return of the Greek Parthenon sculptures and those of the Erechtheion. As England belongs to the European Union, for a non-enjoyment of possessions case, there could even be a confiscation order. Furthermore, if we were to estimate the value of the sculptures, even in the most conservative manner, combining it with the 200 year depredation, we can then evaluate the cost of the loss.
In any case, with this decision of UNESCO, England can no further insist, that the case of the sculptures is exclusively a Greek related issue and to continue to be indifferent because it doesn’t cause her any substantial costs. And as the Acropolis as an entity, constitutes since 1987, a UNESCO World Heritage Monument , the depredation of the sculptures concern the whole of humanity through Hellenism and that is why England is condemned in the higher degree. Thereon, this decision will be taken into account during the continuity of our battle.
