15050 - Sixteenfinger

Translated from the Greek by Vicky Baklessi
Once upon a time, on a Sunday, a little one but much too little found a chessboard. At first he thought it was just a piece of wood, but when he held it with his little hands he realized that a man had made it because the squares that constantly changed colors was not something normal. Then he started counting them and of course he had difficulty, because he had just learned the arithmetic, he made it and found their number. So he discovered the first pieces of Time. But he was alone in front of the emptiness because he had not seen the pieces and the pawns. Or maybe someone had stolen them. He saw that something was missing from the marks on the board, but he never imagined that it was an entire black and white world that could live on this flat universe. He had not yet learned about the wooden memory.
