Everyone was looking out the windows. The station had been emptied like a chessboard at the end of a game. Only the stationmaster had remained to give the sign to the driver who waited patiently to start the engine that he held with effort. Finally the whistle was heard and the railtime started. Then the Master remembered Paris…The link had closed. The new link had began. In the wagons the people were silent. They had no one to wave at. The arrival and the departure had touched one another at the same point of spacetime, while it was inconceivable. It was as if a thief that wanted to write history in his own way had stolen Time. So the first branching started.
