35289 - International Strategy of Hellenism

Translated from the Greek by Athina Kehagias

Helladism with the crisis inflicted upon it has also shown its practical limits since it has not been able to solve any serious issue. The government which is confined within this context due to lack of scope but also due to ideological bias. The ruling power itself, even at a non-governmental level, has demonstrated not only its incompetence to propose solutions, but to not even utilize proposals. Therefore, Hellenism remains alone, as has been the case so many times in its history. Consequently, if it really wants to overcome the difficulties and to have prospects, there must be a strategic planning at an international level since its limitation within the Greek borders degenerates the entire issue. In other words, there is a need for an international strategy of Hellenism. One of the tangible examples which doesn’t concern the economic issue in the least, is the prerequisite for the international recognition of the genocide of the Hellenism of Pontus. With its anniversary of the one hundred years in 2019, it is important to obtain coordination, and this can’t occur through the government or the centers of power which are indifferent to such issues. The fact that we have many Greek communities abroad is not enough to secure the coordination of actions. Therefore, the 2019 context and the preparation toward it, doesn’t only constitute an incentive, but an actual benchmark towards the course of Hellenism. In actual fact, this approach could be complemented by the 2021 anniversary of the beginning of the national revolution.
