18487 - The EEZ is not for the political parties

N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

Every political party can add the EEZ issue in its program, even if it is totally irrelevant to the topic. That doesn’t bother us in the least, since in no case do we rely on the political parties for the establishment of the Greek EEZ. In actual fact, it is our nation itself which will acquire it on demand. And at the right time, the representatives would have to agree. It’s just unnecessary to be exposed when you do not know anything regarding the subject. Because, it is not merely a small and typical information intake which is sufficient to change the defeatism and your passion for the miserable. So, whether the political parties speak or not about our EEZ, the insistant Greeks will continue relentlessly to fight towards it, and those who want can follow them, as they will not wait around for anyone. Because, some have not yet learned that the establishment of the EEZ occurs unilaterally, that the demarcations are independent of it, that research and drilling do not require all the delinations to take place in order to begin and that the twenty marine plots located in the Ionian and southern Crete already exist. And when the political parties say that, they are engaged in job formation, while they don’t know that a single liquefaction plant with all its components employs about 100,000 people, we immediately understand how specialised they are on the issue. For this reason, let all political parties speak regarding the EEZ, in their own way, from the relevant to the most irrelevant, it doesn’t bother us in the least.
On the contrary, in this way it seems more obvious that the EEZ is an entity above any political party boundary, which belongs to the national level.
The EEZ is the application of the Law of the Sea, but it simply requires guts and strategy and these elements are the sole property of persistent Greeks.
